Reimagining Elderhood is a short documentary following the work of three architects – Islander Architects, Studio Idir, and Ailbhe Cunningham – who have engaged with their local communities in the Irish neighbourhoods of Balbriggan (Dublin), Ballyhackamore (Belfast) and Cork City throughout 2022/23, to explore what community-led initiative and architecture can bring to making these neighbourhoods better places to enable and empower positive ageing. The film also visits McAuley Place in Naas (Ireland) and New Ground CoHousing (London), two projects which demonstrate alternative approaches to housing and community for people in middle and older age.
