A photographer explores the seldom noticed architecture in his home town. Whanganui, a UNESCO City of Design since 2021, is home to many of New Zealand’s heritage buildings.

Celebrated photographer Richard Wotton has been documenting buildings in the city for almost 50 years. Ignoring the picture postcard views, his work highlights the beauty in functional architecture, and catalogues a unique period in the city’s life.
