The Tower of Marianna – one of the few Tower houses of the Lesbian countryside that still survives – a rare sample of traditional folk architecture, still stands boldly, “belted”in the ravages of abandonment and time.

Through the eyes of the visitors, the Tower shows up as a symbol around which multiple meanings are organized about domesticity, kin relations, festive sociability, friendship, death and life itself.
