After years of waiting, without being able to access housing and maintaining a condition of relatives in the houses of their relatives, a group of residents of the Pichicautín sector (Temuco), decide to plant a flag and take a public land to build their homes.
In a city marked by the real estate boom that exposes the inequality and neglect of thousands of families waiting for their home. This own solution will allow them to build a neighborhood for a better quality of life.
A desire for which they are determined to fight for the right to decent housing, overcoming the indolence of the institutions and police violence, making their reasons and capacities prevail.
Directors Biographies – Carlos Valverde Ortega – Rodrigo Hiriarte Llanos
He is a Chilean photographer, writer, filmmaker and journalist. He studied Direction of Photography with Professor Rodolfo Denevi at the Argentine Film Industry Union (SICA) and filmmaking at the International Workshop of the School of International Film and TV in San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba. He was a journalist and photojournalist for the newspaper El Austral between 2015-2020. He is co-author of the book “Nostalgia del Futuro, biografía del poeta Jorge Teillier Sandoval”, published in 2015 and republished in 2020, together with Luis Marín Cruces. In 2022 he directs and produces the documentary “Casa con Bandera”, together with Rodrigo Hiriarte Llanos. It is his debut feature.

Sociologist and university professor. He has worked as a researcher and cultural manager of the Araucanía Region. “House with a Flag” is his first audiovisual production.
